The Bedroom is Complete....

Here is an over-all view of the completed bedroom with attached sitting room. When I say completed...when is any home complete, we always change things about and add things to different rooms, so I guess my petite maison will be no different.

The little sitting room still requires a cushion for the chair, possibly a fire screen and lots of pretty bits and pieces on the 'what-not'.

The little dressing table with its many perfume bottles is a 'Small Pleasures Kit'...I have had it for a number of years but it just seems to have been made for that particular corner....and of course it has its own matching stool.

The chest of draws are a 'House Works Kit', with a mirror above and crystal wall sconces on either side. I made the 'festoon' curtain on the bedroom window in the same manner that you would make the 'real' thing!

I have had most of this room done for a couple of months now, all except the bedding on the 'Pheonix' bass and iron bed...once again this was a kit...quite a tricky one to get the paint work right!! I couldn't finish the room because I didn't know how to get the fabric to 'drape'...nothing worse than 'sticky-out' bedding...so Mercedes came to my rescue with her handy tips on how to treat the fabric...and in one afternoon the room was finished!!...thank you Mercedes!!
I have made a little box with evelopes and post cards....could these be a box of love letters belonging to the lady of the house?

I love this pheonix telephone...bit of a pain to paint and I changed the metal cord on the phone to a real one...doesn't look quiet so 'stiff'.

This is just a close-up of the box of letters and post cards, along with the little slippers that I have already shown you all.

...and finally, what brass and iron bed would be complete with out an Heirloom applique quilt...(no, not really!!) I made this years ago and finally it has a home!
All in all I am happy with these two rooms, probably more happy to have another area of the house finished....3 more rooms to go!!! Next room to work on is the bathroom/dressing room!!

The quilt is truly stunning - you built the room to suit it! The detail in everything is amazing. The great thing about kits is how you can adapt and change them to fit a scene, painting furniture white wouldn't have occurred to me at first.

Oh it's such a precious room!
No overfilled, everything matches, it's not kitchy at all and I feel really at ease!
I could live there :)

And I love the floor!! Really wonderful!

I'm not a bedroom freak regarding dollhouse (I prefer kitchen and dining rooms :D :D) but this room is really inspiring!

Linda,

The rooms are just lovely, I really admire your artistic composition.

I would like to offer up one suggestion for a minor improvement. The fold up tea tray is out of proportion to the other pieces. The legs are too thick and too stiff next to the French furniture. Thop tray on top looks fine. The legs need to be equally elegant. It should not be too difficult to rework them or make legs from thinner wood perhaps with a little matching curve to them.

Yesterday i didn't have much time to take in this beautiful bedroom.
I really admire your work and it all looks so real. It's the kind of bedroom i would like to have for myself.
The bed is beautiful and the bedding too. I am so glad you mentioned where you bought the bed from as a kit. I will now know where to go when i make a bedroom scene i have planned.
