What's behind the doors....?

I love these huge doors/gates!! I took all of these photos on my last trip to Paris....sigh!!!

They usually open onto a small lane way that leads into a court yard that allows residents access to their apartments. You don't need me to tell you about how elaborate some of them are, how big they are and what amazing colours they are painted, because I think my photos speak for them selves......but I am always excited to get a glimpse behind these fabulous gates.....

....and some times, if you are very very lucky you get to have a really quick peak behind.

p.s.....I haven't forgotten my miniatures. I am working away on my new project ever so slowly!

That last photo, oh so tempting! I would want to sneak in and look at the coutyard in the background. What a wonderful thing to have if you live in a busy city, a little oasis.

Dearest Linda:) I am fine, thank you for asking. It is just that I currently don't have a workroom due to selling our house. It is sold now so hopefully things will be better soon. I miss you all terribly and I am not at all proud of beeing so long away. Lovely doors and pictures as always. Hugs:)

Linda, thank you for your comment on my downpipe. Now I shall go hunt for the similar one on the Louvre. In addition to hunting for the Statue of Liberty over in the Jardins de Luxembourg!

See your 4th photo in this post. See that 'things' on either side of the doors at the bottomm. What are they for, do you know? I am getting a collection of them. Firstly I thought they might be shoe-scrapers, but they are not all well-shaped for that. Then I thought they might be to stop the doors from slamming back, but they are often on the wrong spot for that. Any ideas? They are a massive array of shapes ... help!!

Oh to be sequestered behind a pair of these beguiling portals ... you just know there are secrets, daydreams and other enchantments going on within! Lovely photographs ...

Not only does Paris has the best architecture in the world but also the best doors. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!
