I'm a slow worker....but this is ridiculous!!!

I have had the plans drawn for my French "....."shop for well over 2 years (or more ?) but nothing happened. Finally the 'bug bit' and I got on with it. The shop front proved to be a challenge....it is one thing having the plans drawn in 1 dimension, but a totally different story to building it in 3 dimension. After a lot of head scratching and a few anxious moments (where I almost abandoned the project altogether) it all suddenly fell into place....and here is my progress thus far.
For one reason or another I was a little hesitant to show my progress at this stage, but as I said to a fellow blogger, if I don't....then I might as well close down my blog!! So here you have it!!! Lots and lots (and LOTS....sigh!) more to do, but I believe this to be a positive start!!
A big thank you to those who made contact with me regarding 'The House of Miniatures' wardrobe....sadly most (if not all) on eBay (for reasons I don't know) do not/will not send to Australia!!! Any way, I do believe I shall secure one very soon...thanks again!!

Greetings Linda,
So glad that the bug has hit once again! It is so much fun to be part of your miniature world.

Re the little wardrobe. Bruce will be in Australia mid March and can bring anything down at that time and forward it to you. I follow mid April.

Also we have a Us box number that you can have things forwarded. So postage may be more acceptable.
Email me and I will give you full details.

It would be no inconvenience.
Regards Janine

Applause!!! A wonderful shop front!!!

Crafted by your own hands? That is an exceptional job and I'm not surprised it has taken a while, please keep the progress shots coming, it inspires us all.

Beautiful work!

Yes Fiona....I made the shop front using strip wood pieces in many various sizes, shapes and thickness.......hence the 'head scratching'.....lol! It takes a terrible lot of time to design and make, but I do enjoy the process (when I get it right)!!

Love the shop front Linda! I'm almost a year into my French-style shop (La Mignonette) and as I'm the ultimate procrastinator, progress is positively glacial.
I look forward to following your progress.... what sort of shop will yours be?

If the inside of the shop will look like the outside, it will be wonderful!

It may be a slow process Linda, but often that produces the best results! I love that you're making it all yourself, which makes it so much more interesting than a shop bought shop ;-) I like the panelling on it and the symmetry.

Still guessing at what type of shop you are making. I'm going for a Flower Shop & Tea Room.

It is going to be wonderful. I also love the fact you have done it all from scratch from your own design. I look forward to seeing many more posts about your new project.

I always read your blog but I don't comment often. I am glad you decided to post because I love to follow your projects- you have such excellent taste in your minis. I live in the United States--if you ever find your wardrobe and need to have it shipped from here to Australia I would have no problem mailing it on to you. I'm betting there may be other miniaturists that you know better that would be willing to help you out that way also.

Hi Linda
the Front looks fantastic - the windows in particular have great proportions. I especially like the column detailing on the sides.
I can't wait to see what lovely colours you are planning - off vintage off-whites?
Best wishes

I also applaud you for building your shop from scratch. It will surely get easier as you get on with it and your next project will not be so intimidating. I think the shop front is perfect. Looking forward to your future posts on this interesting new project.

Hello Linda, I am so delighted to be on this journey with you and the new beginnings of the French shop! Janine (Minworks) tuned me in onto your site long before I joined "blogland" and I have admired Une Petite Follie as so many others have and enjoyed the photo journal of your Parisian streetscapes for sometime. Thank you for sharing this new venture. I look forward to the trails and tribulations and the fun of it all!

Linda, a work so thorough needs time to mature :-)
You keep a lot of the aesthetics of your blog, but believe me when I say it's interesting to see the work in progress, when it is well done :-)
In addition, from sharing come many new ideas and energies.
Mini hugs

Hi Linda, I haven't commented before (too many great blogs..) but I have to agree with others: this is an amazing result so far! I would be very proud showing this and you're so right to have done so! Keep on doing that and you can have more faith in yourself for sure: from this I can see you have a talent, just as you shown your talent with your great taste in your house and furnishings and what you did with that, with this shopfront you've also proven to be a fine builder, no doubts necessary! Bye! Monique
