So what happens when you move house....?

....your doll house moves too!! I'm not one for sticking all the furniture into place, as it is still a 'work in progress' I'm still moving things about inside. So, when a move of house is required my petite maison goes through the same treatment as the real house....but in this case we only had to move from an upstairs apartment to one below....( I won't bore you with the reason why).
So when all the furniture was sitting-out waiting to be put back I thought it made for a good photo opportunity.
Several people have emailed me wanting to know how the rooms are situated in the doll house, seeing it was empty I was happy to show it.....keeping in mind I don't like to 'post' a room until I am totally happy with it and as I don't have all the furniture ready for all of the rooms I was pleased to be able to share the lay-out with you now. I have two rooms left to work on, the one in the attic will be a junk/storage come sewing room (at this stage, can always change my mind) and the one below is the bathroom (at the rear) and dressing room in front, (work is slowly taking place, graph paper fitted to show placement of dividing wall, plus wall panelling shall be made for these rooms). Here I'm just showing a detailed photo of the main room of the house, I have curtains to make as well as furniture to finish for this room,... (about to start work on a 'grand piano kit'). Once again I made all of the wall paneling as well as the parquet floor. The flooring was a very 'testing' job, I designed it to fit the room exactly and made it using basswood stripwood....once again far too many pieces to remember.
....and here again, a close-up of the flooring, I was so happy once I had this finished and fitted!!

Hi Linda,
It's a truly beautiful little maison. I don't like to stick things in place either but I'm having to for the show next weekend. My biggest problem is Liberty moving everything around after I've spent an hour getting it all looking right, anyone would think it was her dollhouse! LOL!

Moving is always a lot of work, also in miniature. But it is great to have a close look again at all the things you have made and collected. I love your dollshouse, it looks great.

What beautiful pictures of your beautiful things. I could look at it for hours. I wish you the best of luck with moving both big and small things. I could wonder which of the funitures (big or small) I would take most care of. SMILE

I love every bit of it! thank you for the open house picture, it's great view, I love the little rooms "behind" the major ones. It gives much more depth to the house. I love your furniture as well. BTW I have my ticket to Paris, I'm so happy!

Hello Linda,

Thanks for posting the picture of the whole house. It was nice to get a view of it all. Very well done with the floor - the patience you must have! It's very impressive. Hope the move wasn't too stressful (large and small).
