White on white....

Is there anything more refreshing than 'white on white'? I confess that I love it in my real house.....so why not in my miniature house.

While we were last in Paris I had the good fortune to go to "Paris Creations". While Paris Creations is more doll orientated than miniatures related, a good selection of miniaturists do attend. Before leaving home I had a list of pieces that I required from the very talented Elisabeth Causeret (France)......she makes the most exquisite porcelain items and while I already have a substantial collection of her work I did require more....well, who can resist?! The pieces I am collecting will sooner or later (more later than sooner I think...) find their way into my new project.....which I confess it is moving terribly slowly.....I don't believe I have touch it in more than 2 years, so I guess you cannot get much slower than that.

I also wanted another folding bistro/cafe chair. Those of you with a good memory might remember that several years ago I bought a fabulous chair from Catherine Soubzmaigne (Paris).....well I contacted Catherine again and I was lucky enough to score the last one available (apparently she has trouble sourcing the fine metal)......as before I was thrilled with this chair, it is perfect in scale and folds up just like the real ones....ABSOLUTE PERFECTION!!

The pieces in the last photo are also by Elisabeth, I adored the designs and the soft muted colours......and I just had to have the blue piece, isn't it gorgeous?!

the post with no title...!

I'm finding it hard to even think of a title for this post...'bad blogger'?...lazy blogger'?...busy blogger'?...boring blogger'?........or all of the above!! I find it difficult to think that my poor blog has sat idle for so long.....I am sorry. I certainly thank those who have emailed and asked me to return, please know my absence was unintentional. I have no excuse, only that I had nothing of any interest to share.......possibly still haven't as I have been terrible slow when it comes to miniatures, there always seems to be some thing else to do.....or am I simply using that as an easy excuse....???

While there is nothing miniature related to report, there is certainly something 'Paris' related to tell you. Yes, we are off again!! This time next month we will be getting ready to head off for another six weeks in Paris. Yet again we have booked an apartment for our stay, while I did try to rebook the apartment we had last time it is now unavailable.....but this only forces us to choose another area to stay, this visit we will be in Saint Germain des Pres! Obviously I am very excited and look forward to seeing friends in Paris....cannot wait!!

I hope you enjoy the photos I have selected from previous trips to Paris, I cannot be certain that I have not already posted some of these photos before but I do hope you excuse me if I have.....enjoy and I hope to see you again very soon!

a kitchen refresh....

I must confess that I am enjoying this little change about far more than I ever expected. It is lovely to pull everything out, change a few things about.....give it all a good dust and put it all back again.

I love my little glass cloche with the butterfly.....I've had the cloche for ever (like wise for the butterfly) and when I went for a walk the other day I went hunting for a 'stick'.....then assembled it on my return. Please excuse the blob of 'blu-tack'.....this will be replaced  soon, but I was so excited by the photo I wanted to post it asap!

.....okay, onto the next room!

Changes....lots of changes!!

Lots of changes.....? You might be looking at the photos and wondering what on earth is she talking about! I did infact make changes....lots of them!!! I spent most of the weekend moving furniture about in my petite maison.....taking photos, standing back surveying the changes, making more changes.....until I realised I had changed everything back (almost) to where it was originally!!! I'm not saying I got it right the first time, I'm just saying with the furniture to hand I think I must have made the best choice way back then!!! So being terribly frustrated with not a lot of furniture changes, I decided to 'refresh' a lot of the accessories.....this was a lot of fun. The entrance hall is the only room that I can show you at the moment, but I have replaced the floor rug, some of the content on the side table, all of the content of the centre table, a new picture over the couch etc. They are sutler changes but I think it freshens it all up.
Frustrations were (again) high today trying to get my lovely little Ray Storey lamp to work.....nothing wrong with the lamp, just the electrician (me)!!

St. Valentine's Day....

Hope you all have a lovely Valentine's Day!!

p.s....I have found a new blog!!!! Pipi Turner is making a very faithful copy of Lea Frisoni's house from Lea's book "Le Grand Livre de la Maison Miniatures". I have enjoyed watching her progress....take a look, I bet you will also.

Paris....

....as you may well expect......Paris is always in my thoughts. The gorgeous buildings, the stunning flowers, pretty parks....the sights, the sounds, even the smell of Paris are all so familiar to me. But while I have not plans of returning any time soon, I must content myself with what ever 'Paris-fix' I can get. Have you seen the movie below..."My Old Lady"? It is wonderful, I loved it and thought you might enjoy it also......please let me know what you think when you see it, I would love to know. Plus, I hope you like the photos I selected for you today...Enjoy! X

I remember you....

....do you remember me?

I have been away from my blog for far too long.....but while my blog has been silent I have been keeping an eye on what you have all been doing. There is some really wonderful and inspiring work happening out there.

To keep my blog alive I have posted a selection of photos of my last trip to Paris....wonderful memories, I hope you enjoy them.

To fill you in on some very happy news.....I have once again been made a grandmother. I am "Nunu" to a gorgeous little baby girl. My eldest daughter Kendall gave birth to 'Harriett Mae' just last week. She weighed in at a very healthy 9 lbs and she is exquisite!!!!!

Treasure hunting....

I thought I would take the time to show you some little treasures that I have purchases lately. You will certainly recognise the beautiful work of Teresa Martinez. I saw these gorgeous little jars of vegetables  on Teresa's blog and I simply could't resist.....they so remind me of what I have seen in France.
Next is two sweet little items that I found at "Small Treasures Miniatures".
The wooden handled can opener is made by UK miniaturist Danny Shotton.....

and the wooden butter press (with moveable handle) is by David Provan (also from England). Sophia travels the world to add such items to her shop, so that people such as us...(who cannot always make it to Kensington etc)....can also buy these fabulous pieces.....Thank you Sophia!
Last, but most certainly not least is a "Stokesay Ware Tea Set" that I sent for earlier this year. I have loved this design for such a long time. I think my little cake "Le Valentin" from "Paris Miniatures" compliments the set to perfection.
While there is more.....I have to leave something for another day!
