sous le figuier....
Sous le figuier (-under the fig tree-) is my French florist....my latest project (very much) in progress!
I am unsure how other miniaturists work, but I like to have the exterior complete (or very close to) before I start the interior. I know roughly what the layout and decor etc. will be for the interior (as many items are already purchased).....but until further work as been completed outside, the inside is a 'no go' zone. Yes, it is terribly hard not to fiddle and daydream....but I must stay focused!! It is really hard to find time at present....lots of things happening here....and yes, another trip to Paris is planned for very soon.
I must thank Catherine from Kilmouski & Me (yet again) as she is my 'driving force' and with out Catherine I would not be this far advanced (it is amazing what a well written email can do...lol!) All though having said that, I never feel the need to 'rush'....(as I already have a dolls house)....so the need is not so urgent this time around. "Urgent"....I laugh at myself, my last project took over 5 years to complete. I hope you enjoy this small taster I have posted here today....please note: it is all 'self made'....so don't look too closely!!

A fabulous start Linda, nice big windows so that the passers-by will be tempted inside...
Aaahh… Enfin ! (Hihi)
It will be very beautiful, and I like the French name.
Indeed, it is more interesting to complete first the outside, which gives the impression of having a real local (or home) to develop, it is more motivating.
I was waiting for a long time the begining of this project, happy that Catherine found the words to make it start.
Looking forward for the following. ♥
I think Linda that it is the journey, not the destination, that should be savoured. My mini house, yet unnamed, has been ongoing since 1991.
All the best.
Regards Janine
Dearest Linda, I have given myself 100 years for my Casa Rossa and may be they won't be enough since I am not working on it.
Savour each little step on and enjoy any progress, no need to hury. At least in mini world !
Hugs to you all, Rosanna
Oh wow! This is great news Linda! It is so very nice so far and I also love the name. Will anticipate the next treat! I'm sitting in our little caravan (in the backyard) while I wait for the finishing touches to my new big kitchen...tonight I'll actually enjoy washing the dishes lol!
The exterior is looking great. I think it will be splendid when decorated and painted.
You are entirely too modest, Linda - none of my builds ever look this good at such an early stage! (You should see what a disaster my French townhouse looked like before I covered all the mistakes, clumsy cutting, etc. with copious amounts of plaster.)
I look forward to seeing further progress on this pretty little build - no matter how long it takes.
Un exterior perfecto, me encantará ver todo lo demas..¡felicidades por un gran trabajo!
Hello Linda,
The shop will be wonderful. what a beautiful building. Excellent work. I often have to step back and tell myself miniatures is not a race, it is supposed to be fun and relaxing and take however long it takes
Big hug,
Giac
I like this beautiful building and I'm curious to see more.
Bye, Faby
TEST
This think won't let me post.
On the contrary. It was your blog Linda that inspired me to take up miniatures again. Good heavens!!!
When I think about it.... You have cost me a fortune. hahahaha BIG SMILE!
Yes, a wonderful teaser! Your florist´s will be great, the facade already looks very interesting and I like the big and the door on the side wall.
Sandra
Es una preciosa fachada.
Hi Linda, your florist exterior is coming along just perfect i think the name is wonderful and have no doubt that eventually when the time comes to focus your attention to the interior that it will look stunning too. Best Wishes Tony
Your 'self made' is well on the way to being another triumph. Your self discipline is very evident in the finished product. Another lovely journey, not only for you but also for your fans, thanks for the peek.
OOO a nice little teaser, very inspiring :)
Hi Linda,
So far, so fabulous! I did the outside of my house first, too --I dunno, it seemed natural to do so but I have learned that not everyone does it that way.
Catherine has spurred me on at times, too! Isn't she a treasure?
Great work so far! Can't wait to see more.
XOXO
John
Oh John, Catherine is a treasure, I wish she lived near me.....what fun we would have.....giggle!!! X
The exterior looks fabulous! I can see the logic of finishing the exterior first, I've never seen a shop in real life that set up its wares on the pavement and then built the exterior :-P. Looking forward to following this.
Veronique
How lovely to see the exterior of your French florist. I love it, the details of the architecture are superb.
I like the name of the shop very much. We'll the inside have a Provence touch?
Geneviève
Self made is the guarantee of beauty and originality :-)
Very interesting your process: complete the outside (without putting anything IN) is a great challenge :-)
I love the tiles.
And I love figs, so I really like the name :-)
Enjoy any step :-)
Hugs,
Flora
Fabulous to see you at work again, what a wonderful concept. I can't wait to see more!
And, I have just seen your handsome little man, I'm not surprised you find it hard to tear your self away from those sparkling eyes!

El exterior se ve muy bonito y estoy deseando ver más.
Prachtig gemaakt.
xx Conny
It already looks perfect Linda!
Looking forward to seeing more!

It's great to finally get a sneak peek of your new project. I like your idea of a flower shop and am looking forward to following your progress so plenty of pics please! It also hasn't gone unnoticed that you allowed for the depth of the paving at the planning stage with the raised edging/baseboard on the building. Missing that trick is something I'm sure a lot of us have done.
Hi Linda! I think that your florist shop has a very pretty facade and it will be well worth waiting for whenever it is presented! Keep at it cause 'slow and steady, wins the race'!
