I am unsure how other miniaturists work, but I like to have the exterior complete (or very close to) before I start the interior. I know roughly what the layout and decor etc. will be for the interior (as many items are already purchased).....but until further work as been completed outside, the inside is a 'no go' zone. Yes, it is terribly hard not to fiddle and daydream....but I must stay focused!! It is really hard to find time at present....lots of things happening here....and yes, another trip to Paris is planned for very soon.
I must thank Catherine from Kilmouski & Me (yet again) as she is my 'driving force' and with out Catherine I would not be this far advanced (it is amazing what a well written email can do...lol!) All though having said that, I never feel the need to 'rush'....(as I already have a dolls house)....so the need is not so urgent this time around. "Urgent"....I laugh at myself, my last project took over 5 years to complete. I hope you enjoy this small taster I have posted here today....please note: it is all 'self made'....so don't look too closely!!

It will be very beautiful, and I like the French name.
Indeed, it is more interesting to complete first the outside, which gives the impression of having a real local (or home) to develop, it is more motivating.
I was waiting for a long time the begining of this project, happy that Catherine found the words to make it start.

I think Linda that it is the journey, not the destination, that should be savoured. My mini house, yet unnamed, has been ongoing since 1991.

Oh wow! This is great news Linda! It is so very nice so far and I also love the name. Will anticipate the next treat! I'm sitting in our little caravan (in the backyard) while I wait for the finishing touches to my new big kitchen...tonight I'll actually enjoy washing the dishes lol!
The exterior is looking great. I think it will be splendid when decorated and painted.
You are entirely too modest, Linda - none of my builds ever look this good at such an early stage! (You should see what a disaster my French townhouse looked like before I covered all the mistakes, clumsy cutting, etc. with copious amounts of plaster.)
I look forward to seeing further progress on this pretty little build - no matter how long it takes.

The shop will be wonderful. what a beautiful building. Excellent work. I often have to step back and tell myself miniatures is not a race, it is supposed to be fun and relaxing and take however long it takes

Bonne continuation dans cette nouvelle aventure , cela commence bien .Il est vrai que pour réaliser une devanture de boutique , je ne mets que 15 jours !! chacun son rythme l'essentiel est de prendre du plaisir . Je commence aussi souvent par la devanture extérieure , comme le dit Léa cela permet de bien visualiser l'ensemble du projet .Par exemple avant de faire la boite de la boutique , je vais créer certains meubles et après je pourrai calculer la surface intérieur de la boutique.

So far, so fabulous! I did the outside of my house first, too --I dunno, it seemed natural to do so but I have learned that not everyone does it that way.
Catherine has spurred me on at times, too! Isn't she a treasure?

The exterior looks fabulous! I can see the logic of finishing the exterior first, I've never seen a shop in real life that set up its wares on the pavement and then built the exterior :-P. Looking forward to following this.

It's great to finally get a sneak peek of your new project. I like your idea of a flower shop and am looking forward to following your progress so plenty of pics please! It also hasn't gone unnoticed that you allowed for the depth of the paving at the planning stage with the raised edging/baseboard on the building. Missing that trick is something I'm sure a lot of us have done.
